Emerald on Calcite

Peñas Blancas Mine, San Pablo de Borbur, Boyacá, Colombia

A small specimen of emerald in a typical matrix from the Peñas Blancas deposit. The piece shows an emerald prism with one of the best colors from this mines. The rock matrix is covered with oxides that give the yellow color. A white translucent calcite with very well shaped faces contrast with the green color emerald prism, very intense, very good clarity and terminated faces. A small but very interesting specimen.
